Act Of Interviewing An Aggro Mage

Recently, one of our very own writers John Impellizzeri took a White Weenie deck to the top eight of a big Star City Open event, and was featured as the deck of the week in the Star City newsletter. While we were waiting to see how John finished, I called dibs on interviewing him for Act of Aggression, as he was playing the deck I would have played. John showed everyone that a deck like this has to be respected.

Metamorphosis - a Big Change to Standard

I was sitting at work when I took a break to see updates on Facebook on my phone. I saw the article published by Wizards of the Coast named Metamorphosis referenced several times. I knew it had to be something big. I didn’t realize how big. Standard will undergo major changes starting next year. Here’s how…

Magic 2015 Comprehensive Draft Preview - Part Two

Haibing Hu has been a true authority on booster draft for nearly a decade and a half. In preparation for his second Pro Tour this year (Valencia and Portland), Dr. Hu breaks down his draft order for all the cards in Magic 2015. He reviewed the commons in part one of this two-parter. In this article he breaks down, by color, the uncommons and then the rares/mythics.

Magic 2015 Review, Part Two

Good morning Mages! Today we'll be going through the second half of the M15 cards that I started talking about last week. Make sure you check out Part One if you haven’t already. Here in part two I’ll take a look at the red, green and white cards. I covered blue, black, and the artifacts and lands in part one.

Magic 2015 Review, Part One

Good morning Mages! I've finished my review of the M15 set finally, and there are lots of cards that I really like in this set. The power level is pretty high and the constructed-quality cards range from being corner-case good, like Avarice Amulet, to REALLY powerful, like Garruk, Apex Predator. I am impressed with what they gave us in a core set this year. The coming Standard environment looks very interesting after rotation, and I even like what's going to happen with Modern with some cards. Let's get to it, shall we?

Magic 2015 Comprehensive Draft Preview - Part One

Haibing Hu continues to be one of the best limited players in Texas. He’s been doing it a very long time. He occasionally reaches the professional level, as he did this spring at Pro Tour Valencia where he competed deep into day two. He’s been an on-again, off-again pro player for around fifteen years. Haibing is a solid constructed player, but he absolutely excels at limited formats like sealed deck and booster draft. In preparation for his trip to Pro Tour Portland in a few weeks, Haibing has broken down his first impressions of the draft order for every color and rarity. In this first of two parts, Haibing breaks down the commons. In part two he addresses the uncommons and rares/mythics.

Early Impressions Of M15

M15 is being leaked card by card*. The boards go wild with all kinds of comments for every card. Undoubtedly someone always says, “Wow” while someone else says, “Junk.” More times than not, the comments turn into something completely counterproductive. So instead of going through countless threads and Facebook posts, I offer my opinion on what we’ve seen so far.

Act Of Aggression: Nostalgia

Everyone has it at some point in their lives, that feeling of happiness from your past that comes about because a song comes on the radio, or when you are driving through the town you grew up in. Sometimes it happens when you are playing a video game, or watching a movie. I think Magic players also experience their fair share of nostalgia.

Wednesday Warfare: Real Estate

Hey guys, welcome back to Wednesday Warfare and I hope that 2013 was a great year for you all. As I reflect back on the year I remember some great things such as taking my 8 yr old son out for his first real fishing trip at sea where he managed to hand jig his first cod fish, celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary with my lovely wife, as well as numerous great moments involving Magic: the Gathering. I think the biggest MTG moment for me has to do with my MTG collection, but let me put it into the correct setting with a little background.
