Well it seems that the rules thread pulled a vanishing act on us, so in its honor: Rules question thread 2.0 Ask away

Alright, nearly 2 pages of questions on progenetius in the rules thread has spurred me to post this. I ask grimmer and everyone else not to answer any more questions about protection from everything.

Here are the 4 things you need to know about protection from everything.

1) Progenetius cannot be targeted by spells or abilities. That means if the spell says TARGET creature or permenant it can't choose progenetius. If it never mentions target creature or permenant your golden (re: wrath of god kills him)

2) Progenetius is unblockable. Period.

3) All damage to progenetius is prevented. If you pyroclasm for example, you do not pass go, you do not collect 200 dollars and you do not deal 2 points of damage to progenetius.

4) Progeneius cannot be equipped or enchanted. If you have some way to move an enchantment or equipment to progenetius without targeting him you can but it will fall off as a state based effect. An enchanment would go to the yard and an equipment would just sit there and laugh at you for being an idiot.

Thats it, unless you have a specific question about the way protection from everything interacts in unique situations STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

For the love of god, someone sticky this, if I see one more question about protection from everything Im going to off myself. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

yes, protection from white simply means "This card cannot be the target of a white spell or ability on a white card." since wrath doesnt target any creature all creatures would be destroyed, even ones with Protection from White. Oblivion Ring wouldnt be able to effect a card with Protection from White since it targets the creature. When dealing with Protection, remember the acronym DEBT:
D: Damage in all forms is prevented
E: Enchantments and Equipment are considered null in the case of protected card
B: Blockers cannot be assigned if they have the stated attribute
T: Targeting a protected card with a spell of the stated attribute causes the cast spell to fizzle. ~Latest deck project: Memories of Blood. Any help would be appreciated.~ "Misery loves company. Idiocy loves attention."

Heh, no, as the card says :
"He's boss because he's smart enough to get out of the way."

Though his ability isn't targetted, it is still damage, and therefore prevented. Moo.

Just to be clearer... the flavor text is not the reason the Skirk Fire Marshal survives the ability. Skirk Fire Marshal has protection from red, so the damage is prevented (as EllE said). I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

The Grizzly Bears CAN be blocked by the creature that has protection from green/creatures. The creature with protection from green/creatures CANNOT be blocked by Grizzly Bears. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

Does Primal Forcemage target? More specifically, if I have a Primal Forcemage in play, and I play a Giant Solifuge(has shroud), will it get the +3/+3 bonus? Mystical Tutor>>>>>Tinker>>>>>Darksteel Colossus>>>>>profit... (8*P

>>>Does Primal Forcemage target?

As EllE said, it doesn't include the word "target" so it doesn't target.

>>>More specifically, if I have a Primal Forcemage in play, and I play a Giant Solifuge(has shroud), will it get the +3/+3 bonus?

Yes, it will get the +3/+3. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

Black recon: Yes, if you have controlled the creature for at least 1 full turn. You can't morph then unmorph a creature and attack/use a tap ability though.

Second part: No.

Wasteland is legal in legacy and vintage
Strip mine is banned in legacy and restricted in vintage. Thats why, most likely. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

If you Snakeform an Evoked Reveillark, what happens? Assuming you have creatures in the graveyard that can be brought back.

You draw a card when Snakeform resolves. Then, the Reveillark is put into the graveyard when it's evoke trigger resolves, but since it has no abilities thanks to Snakeform, nothing gets returned. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

ok here is a question, how would wither work with trample? if i remember correctly trample says that if the creature would have enough power to kill the blocker, the rest is assigned to the blocker's controller. since wither technically doesnt damage the blocker................maybe im just slow, who knows comment on the deck "New Bant" and i will return the favor Iron Chef Mtg Competitor, come stop by the thread and see what is cooking on the site, lots of fun to be had!----------------------------------------------------- The angle of the dangle decreases with the sag of the bag, and increases in proportion to the heat of the meat compared to the mass of the ass and the beauty of the cutie.

Wither damage is still damage... it is just dealt in the form of -1/-1 counters rather than the way traditional damage is dealt. A creature with wither and lifelink will still gain you life, for example. So Wither doesn't change how trample works at all. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

Wither is a little strange so don't feel too bad.

First, with trample you must assign lethal damage to whatever is blocking your trampling creature before you can assign damage to a player.

Now, a creature with wither still deals damage, the difference is that if that damage is not prevented/redirected/whatever it's turned into -1/-1 counters instead. Just remember that the only thing wither changes is what happens when damage is dealt.

So nothing really changes in your example other than what blocked your creature just get -1/-1 counters and then, probably, dies.

Edit: wow...second time today that i've been too slow on the draw :/ My magic blog: http://theundergroundsea.blogspot.com/

Chroma doesn't mean anything on its own, the rules text is whats important. Chroma does, however, always refer to the total number of mana symbols in a group of cards. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

Yeah, Chroma really shouldn't have been a keyword (because almost all of the abilities are different; you can't lay out Primalcrux and when the opponent asks what are it's abilities just say "Chroma", because then the guy has no idea how to calculate it's power and toughness as the game goes on. Besides that, it confuses the opponent even more if you play an Outrage Shaman right afterwards...!).

Chroma is pretty much just:

Chroma- Follow the text on the card that has something to deal with mana symbols somewhere (be it in a library, on your field, or both yours and the opponents permanents together). I'm not the most intelligent person on this site, but I'll sure as hell speak as if I am.
