Well it seems that the rules thread pulled a vanishing act on us, so in its honor: Rules question thread 2.0 Ask away

Alright, nearly 2 pages of questions on progenetius in the rules thread has spurred me to post this. I ask grimmer and everyone else not to answer any more questions about protection from everything.

Here are the 4 things you need to know about protection from everything.

1) Progenitus cannot be targeted by spells or abilities. That means if the spell says TARGET creature or permenant it can't choose Progenitus. If it never mentions target creature or permenant your golden (re: wrath of god kills him)

2) Progenitus is unblockable. Period.

3) All damage to Progenitus is prevented. If you pyroclasm for example, you do not pass go, you do not collect 200 dollars and you do not deal 2 points of damage to Progenitus.

4) Progenitus cannot be equipped or enchanted. If you have some way to move an enchantment or equipment to Progenitus without targeting him you can but it will fall off as a state based effect. An enchanment would go to the yard and an equipment would just sit there and laugh at you for being an idiot.

Thats it, unless you have a specific question about the way protection from everything interacts in unique situations STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

For the love of god, someone sticky this, if I see one more question about protection from everything Im going to off myself. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

Someone plays thoughweft trio or another champion card, can you kill the target its championing to come in or does it come into play and remove it so fast you never get a chance.

Retired from site. Tired of trolls who rate you poorly just to get you off some worthless list. Gl to all the other people i met who were cool.

Champion is a triggered ability that triggers when the card with Champion comes into play. The ability goes onto the stack, and players may respond by playing spells and abilities of cards. When the ability resolves, the card's controller may remove a card of the appropriate type from the game or let the Champion card be sacrificed.
The most important thing about Champion, however, is that the ability doesn't target any creatures. This means that the card that is championed is only announced when the ability resolves, and you cannot respond to it before the champion ability has fully resolved. For example: You have a Terminate and Volcanic fallout in your hand, and your opponent has 2 Knight of Meadowgrain on the field. When your opponent plays Thoughtweft Trio, you can do all of the following:

Volcanic fallout before the Trio enters play. The knights are killed, and the Trio is Sacrificed.
Terminate a Knight of Meadowgrain before the Trio comes into play or it's ability resolves. The Trio will still come into play removing the other Knight.
Wait for the Champion ability to go onto the stack, then Volcanic fallout.
Terminate the Trio with the Champion ability on the stack.

You CANNOT kill a single Knight to prevent the Trio from coming into play.

Quick question about Exalted: If you have more than one Exalted ability in play, does the attacking creature get +1/+1 for EACH Exalted ability?

Yes. Each instance of exalted triggers separately giving an additional +1/+1.

also remember wilska, exalted can stack double in one turn. For instance if you have a noble hierarch, jhessian infiltrator, rafiq and finest hour in play, the first time jhessian swings it would be 5/5 double striker, on your second combat phase it would be an 8/8 double striker. just fyi

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but here goes anyways:

I attack with a Nova Chaser, my opponent blocks with a 2/X First Strike Whatever.

I play Double Cleave, targeting Nova Chaser.

Does the Nova Chaser die before being able to deal normal combat damage? If the blocker does not have first strike, will my Nova Chaser trample for X damage during first strike, and then deal 10 more normal combat damage?

>>>Does the Nova Chaser die before being able to deal normal combat damage?

Yes. In the first strike damage step, the Nova Chaser is dealt 2 damage and deals 10. Since this is lethal to the Nova Chaser, it will not be in play to deal normal combat damage.

>>>If the blocker does not have first strike, will my Nova Chaser trample for X damage during first strike, and then deal 10 more normal combat damage?

Yes, and the normal combat damage will likely all be dealt to the opponent since the 10 first strike damage should clear the way of blockers.

here is a question. i understand that if you have glorious anthem in play with sigil captain, captain wont work. however what if you have something like wilt leaf liege, will the little 1/1 come into play as 3/3 or not?

nope. The Sigil Captain checks the P/T of the creature after it has come into play, meaning that when it tries to pump up your token it is a 2/2 (assuming it's green or white).

Okay a real rules question:

I have Hostility in play, and play Volcanic Fallout. Does Hostility prevent all the damage, or just the damage done to opponent?

It only prevents the damage to the opponent. You only get two creatures.

This feels like a dumb question, but I have to ask anyway.

Can I Unequip an Equipment? Or does it stay on that equipped creature until the creature leaves play or the equipment is equipped to another creature?

Also, what color/s is Vectis Dominator? It's an artifact creature that costs 1WB. So is it colorless, or is it White and Black?

My guess is Colorless. The border of the card is chrome-like, and leadsa me to believe that it's colorless.

You may not unequip equipment just to have it no longer attached to any creatures. To remove equipment from a creature, the creature must change zones or the equipment must be moved to another creature.

A spell or permanent is the color(s) in the mana cost, so Vectis Dominator is white and black. The color of the card is not relevant. (See Revised Serendib Efreet for an example of a blue creature with a green border.) Likewise, multicolored creatures have a gold border, but no creature is (or can be) gold.

"Can I Unequip an Equipment? Or does it stay on that equipped creature until the creature leaves play or the equipment is equipped to another creature?"

Nope. Equipment doesn't have a way ro just "fall off". There isn't much good reasoning other than the fact that you can't pay the equipment off, and Magic doesn't like things where you can just have things "happen" without anything to cause it.

"Also, what color/s is Vectis Dominator? It's an artifact creature that costs 1WB. So is it colorless, or is it White and Black?"

The Dominator is Black and White. Any card is the colors that it has in its mana cost, and Vectis Dominator has both Black and White mana symbols in its cost. Though borders can help to determine color most of the time, it's not the best way to determine color.

Thanks guys! I know that the border isn't an official determinant of color, I just figured that maybe it was an indicator in this case because all of the cards in Shards seem to split it's colors on the cards. Or at least that's the case for 2 color cards.

Thanks again.

Don't worry, not a "new rules question". If I activate a Treetop Village, then use Ajani ability to give all creatues +1/+1, does the counter stay on the card after my turn is over and the TTV is just a land again or does it fall off? I'm guessing the latter, but hoping the former... Thanks.

It IS the former. Counters stay on whatever permanent they are on. Auras/Equipment usually "fall off" when the permanent changes back.
Moo.

If I were to Snakeform a creature with shield of the oversoul, would it be a 1/1 snake or a 2/2 indestructible snake since its still green?
