Well it seems that the rules thread pulled a vanishing act on us, so in its honor: Rules question thread 2.0 Ask away

Alright, nearly 2 pages of questions on progenetius in the rules thread has spurred me to post this. I ask grimmer and everyone else not to answer any more questions about protection from everything.

Here are the 4 things you need to know about protection from everything.

1) Progenetius cannot be targeted by spells or abilities. That means if the spell says TARGET creature or permenant it can't choose progenetius. If it never mentions target creature or permenant your golden (re: wrath of god kills him)

2) Progenetius is unblockable. Period.

3) All damage to progenetius is prevented. If you pyroclasm for example, you do not pass go, you do not collect 200 dollars and you do not deal 2 points of damage to progenetius.

4) Progeneius cannot be equipped or enchanted. If you have some way to move an enchantment or equipment to progenetius without targeting him you can but it will fall off as a state based effect. An enchanment would go to the yard and an equipment would just sit there and laugh at you for being an idiot.

Thats it, unless you have a specific question about the way protection from everything interacts in unique situations STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

For the love of god, someone sticky this, if I see one more question about protection from everything Im going to off myself. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

>>>Can double strike stack, like having more than one kinsbaile cavalier out at once? no?

Multiple instances of double strike are possible, but they don't do any more than one instance of double strike does. During the "first strike" combat damage step, creatures with first strike and double strike deal damage. During the "normal" combat damage step, creatures with double strike and creatures that haven't dealt their combat damage yet will deal damage.

>>>if spiritmonger 6/6 blocks another creatuer that is 6/6 does it get the +1/+1 counter keeping it alive after combat? yes?

If Spiritmonger (6/6) blocks a 6/6 creature it will be in the graveyard before it's triggered ability even makes it to the stack unless you regenerate it before damage resolves.

>>>Can you move equipment from one creature to another during your turn by paying the cost and basically re-equipping it? yes?

Yes, at any time during your turn with the stack empty, you may pay an equipment's equip cost to attach it to a creature you control. It does not matter whether the equipment is unattached or attached to another creature when you do this.

>>>Can creatures with summoning sickness be tapped by other cards effects, and can they tap themselves if their ability doesnt have the tap in it,. For example Nullmage sheperd, or conspire effects? yes?

Yes. A creature can't attack or use it's own activated abilities that include the tap symbol unless it has been under it's owner's control continuously since the beginning of their most recent turn.

So, if you play Wall of Blossoms, you could tap it as one of the additional creature required to play Tradewind Rider's activated ability because the activated ability is not the creature's (Wall's) own activated ability.

Likewise, you could also tap Nullmage Shepherd as one of the creatures for it's ability because that ability doesn't include the tap symbol.

>>>If i have a creature with enchantments and a +1/+1 counter on it leave game, does it come back to play with all of them still?

Not unless the effect that removed it from the game specifically says it returns with the enchantments/counters.

>>>question on "Saffi eriksdotter", can saffi target itself to come back in play when she was incinirated to the graveyard. example: saffi was incinirated then i sacrifice saffi and targeted herself to comeback to play

Saffi can be sacrificed to target itself with her own ability, but it won't have the desired effect. Since the ability targets, it rechecks the targets when it starts to resolve. At that time, Saffi is no longer in play and therefore no longer a legal target, so the effect is countered upon resolution due to an illegal target and Saffi remains in the graveyard.

It might be useful to sacrifice her this way despite it not returning her if they were targeting her with Path to Exile or something that removes her from the game. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

For the record, the delete button works now for these double posts.

>>>If i block an attacking 4/4 creature with trample with a 3/3 creature and my opponent unsummons my 3/3 after blockers are declared.... what happens?

If they Unsummon it during the Declare Blockers Step (i.e. after it is blocked but before damage is assigned) then all 4 trample damage will be assigned to you.

If they wait until damage is on the stack and then Unsummon your creature, then you will only be dealt 1 damage and they are a bad player. (That or they misclicked on MTGO) Generally the Unsummoning will happen this way by the blocking player instead of the attacking player. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

No. Saffi's ability requires her to sacrifice herself as part of the cost, so she cannot target herself MTG Lvl 1 Judge and one of your MTGFanatic Moderators! Birds of Paradise Count: 28

Saffi must sacrifice itself as part of the cost. After costs are paid targets are selected. Saffi is no longer there to be a target. Fortune favors the prepared mind

That is incorrect. I already answered it in my previous post, but I'll repost it again...

The creature:
"TARGET CREATURE's controller sacrifices it, then puts X 1/1 green and white Elf Warrior creature tokens into play, where X is that creature's power."

I guess it is worded this way so it gets around Regeneration and Indestructible. Moo.

You are thinking correct.
Wrath of God doesn't target(can be seen by the lack of the word "target" in its text) so Shroud or likewise won't help one bit. Moo.

Mother of runes

T: Target creature you control gains protection from a color of your choice until end of turn.

Flickering ward
As Flickering Ward comes into play, choose a color.
Enchanted creature has protection from the chosen color. This effect doesn't remove Flickering Ward.
W: Return Flickering Ward to its owner's hand.

Flickering ward refers specifically to the protection that it provides, not to protection from other sources (such as MoR). Thus, if the mother gives the wall pro-white the flickering rune "falls off" upon resolution of the ability and is placed into the graveyard as a state based effect. I think thats how it works but the end result is: flickering ward takes a trip to the 'yard if mother of runes gives pro-white. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

If my opponent plays "evangelize" on my "darksteel colossus" and since my only creature is dark steel colossus. he gains control of it, I then played "momentary Blink" on the darksteel colossus, upon return of the creature in play. do i take control of it or does it stay on the opponents side?

You would keep control of it, assuming you played Momentary Blink before Evangelize resolves. You can blink only a creature you control.

Each time a creature would come into play, it's treated as an entirely new instance of permanent. So, when your opponent plays Evangelize, you declare which one it's targeting (obviously the Colossus), and respond by "blinking" your Colossus. This new Darksteel Colossus was not the one targeted by Evangelize, so Evangelize gets countered upon resolution and you can swing for 11 next turn.

I hope I explained that right. If not someone will come by and clean it up for you. I'm not the most intelligent person on this site, but I'll sure as hell speak as if I am.

@Vincent Mahoney- LOMA

Oh yeah lets put it this way,i have taken control of my opponents darksteel colossus using evangelize. He then tried to play "Swords to plowshires" on the darksteel colossus to remove it from game, but i cast momentary blink on the colossus. when the colossus comes into play, does it go to the owner of the card or does it stay on my side?

Momentary blink;
"Remove target creature you control from the game, then return it to play under its owner's control."

You are the controller of Darksteel Colossus, but not the owner. Your opponent owns it.

That you played Evangelize earlier has no impact on the returen Colossus, it doesn't "remember" anything about it's previous life. Moo.

Mark of Asylum with this card it says prevents all noncombat damage. Does that mean like burn spells and creatues abilities or am i wrong and if i am wrong what do they mean byt noncombat damage? Cause i really want to add this to my "Lito's Jungle Pride" deck but i want a better understanding of the card first.

Yes...All damage from burn spells and various damage abilities that can target your creatures is prevented. Only combat damage could hurt them at that point. Comment on my decks and the favor will be returned in due time. Only positive and constructive comments will be acknowledged.

Would it be a good idea to add something Mark of Asylum to my "Lito's Jungle Pride" deck. Dre you have seen my deck what you think? I wish i could make is a budget deck but i would have to take out Garruk + Elspeth + Ajani + Primal Command. Is there a way to make a good Naya deck without them based around what i have already?

Can Ethersworn Adjudicator destroy an oblivion ring that is targeting it with its own ability to destroy an enchantment before the O-ring's ability resolves? If so, what would happen then? "If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it"-Volrath

If you killed the O-Ring, it would mean that it had come into play and its comes into play ability would be on the stack. If you kill it with the Adjudicator's ability, the O-rings leaves play effect would trigger. Stack would look like:
(Top)
O-ring leaves play
O-ring comes intro play
(Bottom)
This would cause the adjudicator to be removed from the game entirely, without any chance of coming back (expect with cards like Living Wish). MTG Lvl 1 Judge and one of your MTGFanatic Moderators! Birds of Paradise Count: 28
