Well it seems that the rules thread pulled a vanishing act on us, so in its honor: Rules question thread 2.0 Ask away

Alright, nearly 2 pages of questions on progenetius in the rules thread has spurred me to post this. I ask grimmer and everyone else not to answer any more questions about protection from everything.

Here are the 4 things you need to know about protection from everything.

1) Progenetius cannot be targeted by spells or abilities. That means if the spell says TARGET creature or permenant it can't choose progenetius. If it never mentions target creature or permenant your golden (re: wrath of god kills him)

2) Progenetius is unblockable. Period.

3) All damage to progenetius is prevented. If you pyroclasm for example, you do not pass go, you do not collect 200 dollars and you do not deal 2 points of damage to progenetius.

4) Progeneius cannot be equipped or enchanted. If you have some way to move an enchantment or equipment to progenetius without targeting him you can but it will fall off as a state based effect. An enchanment would go to the yard and an equipment would just sit there and laugh at you for being an idiot.

Thats it, unless you have a specific question about the way protection from everything interacts in unique situations STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

For the love of god, someone sticky this, if I see one more question about protection from everything Im going to off myself. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

Yes, because damage is assigned, then players get priority before it resolves. Trample damage occurs when damage is assigned, and the player must assign at AT LEAST enough damage to the blocking creature to kill it (even if it has protection), and then the remaining damage can be dealt to the player (or left on the creature). If you phased it out after the damage was assigned but before it resolves then it would live. Damage has to be assigned to a creature and the rest is available for trample. Even if the creature goes away (blink, phase, etc) then damage is not redistributed. Fortune favors the prepared mind

Commander Eesha has protection from creatures, so any damage Silklash Spider deals to it would be prevented.

The attacking creature must assign "lethal damage" to all creatures blocking it and the remaining damage may be assigned to the opponent. As long as the attacking trampler assigned 4 damage to Eesha, any remaining damage could be assigned to the opponent. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

question on orims chant, if an opponent cast a lightning bolt on my creature and then i answered with an orims chant. does the lightning bolt fizzle and go to the graveyard or does it just cancels my opponent from casting bolt and untapping his mana as well?

When Orim's chant resolves it will prevent the player from playing spells. It does not affect anything already on the stack nor does it prevent them playing the lightning bolt in response to Orim's chant (before it resolves). So you cannot play orim's chant in response to stop the bolt. Best time to play chant is usually at beginning of draw step, so that they cant do anything for the entire turn. The best time is in the Upkeep Step, which is before they draw the card for the turn. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

I stand corrected - Upkeep is the superior play as it prevents them from utilizing the drawn card. Fortune favors the prepared mind

ok so if i cast orim's chant first on my upkeep, then counterspells wont counter it because its already on the stack?

First of all, Orim's chant can be countered because they can still play spells before Chant resolves - i.e. counterspells.

If you do it on your own turn, then after it resolves your opponent will not be able to play spells during your turn AFTER it resolves.

Does spells like Wrath of God destroy "Indestructible" creatures?

Also what about "tap to destroy target creature/permanent"?

Orims Chant cant stop anything already on the stack. Orims chant stops them from playing spells AFTER it resolves. Does not effect anything on the stack, does not prevent anything from being played WHILE Orims Chant is on the stack. Fortune favors the prepared mind

@Ree Ree

Nope. Indestructible creatures are immune to destroy effects. Neither Wrath of God nor a Royal Assassin could send an indestructible creature to the graveyard.

Remove from the game effects work fine, as do spells that return the creature to its owners hand. Also, if you can reduce the indestructible creature's toughness to 0 (say with Last Gasp or Sudden Death), that would send it to the graveyard.

@DonQuixote-LOMA
So both players wont be able to play spells on that turn after playing the 1st & 2nd orims chant, after it resolves.
