Well it seems that the rules thread pulled a vanishing act on us, so in its honor: Rules question thread 2.0 Ask away

Alright, nearly 2 pages of questions on progenetius in the rules thread has spurred me to post this. I ask grimmer and everyone else not to answer any more questions about protection from everything.

Here are the 4 things you need to know about protection from everything.

1) Progenetius cannot be targeted by spells or abilities. That means if the spell says TARGET creature or permenant it can't choose progenetius. If it never mentions target creature or permenant your golden (re: wrath of god kills him)

2) Progenetius is unblockable. Period.

3) All damage to progenetius is prevented. If you pyroclasm for example, you do not pass go, you do not collect 200 dollars and you do not deal 2 points of damage to progenetius.

4) Progeneius cannot be equipped or enchanted. If you have some way to move an enchantment or equipment to progenetius without targeting him you can but it will fall off as a state based effect. An enchanment would go to the yard and an equipment would just sit there and laugh at you for being an idiot.

Thats it, unless you have a specific question about the way protection from everything interacts in unique situations STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

For the love of god, someone sticky this, if I see one more question about protection from everything Im going to off myself. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

Wizards said that Steamflogger Boss was just a way of showing that not all Futureshifted cards would ever be printed again. The odd wordigs on the card were meant to show an absurd future, where bizarre mecanics ruled Magic. It caused a sort of "WTF?!?!?!" moment whenever someone saw it for the first time, which was what I believed to have been their main goal with steamflogger boss. It does sort of suck that it is a rare, though. MTG Lvl 1 Judge and one of your MTGFanatic Moderators! Birds of Paradise Count: 28

It does help in Limited though, so there are fewer useless cards. I mean, imagine if it was common :(

so if a card like forgotten ancient is on the field and a player plays let's say grapeshot. Then a plyer counters the grapeshot with cancel. The storm count is three so three copies would go off, and ancient gets one counter from cancel, and does it get one from grapeshot, or not because counter treats it like it as never played?

The Ancient will get 2 counters on it because the Grapeshot was still played, it simply didn't resolve (and 3 more from those spells played prior to Grapeshot). My magic blog: http://theundergroundsea.blogspot.com/

i believe you would choose how the damage would be dealt, you could have 1 of them take the 2 damage or both have 1 damage dealt to them. "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." -Confucious ~ One of your MTGFanatic Mods!

Since both Empyrial Archangels are trying to replace the damage dealt to you, you get to choose which one takes the damage, but you can't split it if it's all from one source.

eg 1. For a Shock, you decide who takes 2 damage.

eg 2. For a Grapeshot with one Storm count (total damage 2), each copy could be redirected to a different Archangel.

if you have Propaganda/Ghostly Prison/Windborn Muse and a Planeswalker out would your opponent have to pay 2 to attack the Planeswalker? "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall." -Confucious ~ One of your MTGFanatic Mods!

I'm pretty sure they don't, since the cards state "attack YOU" and the Planeswalker is being attacked directly, instead of redirecting an attack through you. MTG Lvl 1 Judge and one of your MTGFanatic Moderators! Birds of Paradise Count: 28

As a side note: if you resolved a Chronomantic Escape, they can still attack any planeswalker you control for the same reason that Firemane stated.

thats what i thought but better to check before it comes up. also if you swing with Zur the Enchanter and use his effect to put an Enchantment into play your opponent wont be able to counter the enchantment since it wasnt cast, right? correct
furthermore, you can "target" creatures with shroud if you are trying to place auras on them since they are put into play, and the targeting aspect of an aura occurs when it is being played, not when it comes into play. Ok, so my roommates are all having a debate about this. Basically, it comes down to "Can you counterspell a Time Stop?" Normally, I'd say yes because you can counter anything on the stack before it resolves. However, in the Kamigawa print of Time Stop it says that it removes all cards, including itself, in the stack from the game. Now Split Second spells were created until later, but I'm wondering if this was supposed to be in the same vein. Anyway, I can't find any articles about trying to counter a Time Stop, so I thought I'd ask here. "All warfare is based on deception." - Sun Tsu

The "remove all spells from the stack" only applies if it resolves. It doesn't have any special abilities on the stack, like Split Second.
So, yes, you can counter it. Moo.

if a 1/1 creatures blocks a creature with flanking, is the attacking creature considered blocked still?

Yes, since a creature was still blocking it. Flanking triggers whenever a creature blocks the creature with flanking, so the 1/1 will not have died in vain (It is able to block the creature). MTG Lvl 1 Judge and one of your MTGFanatic Moderators! Birds of Paradise Count: 28

ok...i was looking through my cards and came across one of the most retarded combos i can possibly imagine...Stuffy + Guilty Conscience. My question is: Does the loop ever end, or does that player stuffy targets pretty much automatically die? also, i believe split second could affect that right? could flash have the same interrupting ability? lmao, it's so ridculous. my stuffy deck has that in there, but i think i'm going to take conscience out, to make a little more "fair". lol (>^.^)>So long Iron Chef, you will be missed! Since it is all triggered abilities in this loop(except from the Tap: 1 Dmg ability), other players can respond to the first damage(assuming you use Tap: 1 Dmg ability).
They can RFG/bounce Stuffy Doll, disenchant Guilty Conscience, and then just take 1 damage instead of getting pwned.

Split second wouldn't affect it, it is triggered abilities, not activated. Flash = play anytime you could play an instant, has nothing to do with Split second. Moo.

yeah, that was kinda my question about flash/split second. i knew flash has instant abilities, but i didn't know if it affected the stack the same way SS did. thx!
