Well it seems that the rules thread pulled a vanishing act on us, so in its honor: Rules question thread 2.0 Ask away

Alright, nearly 2 pages of questions on progenetius in the rules thread has spurred me to post this. I ask grimmer and everyone else not to answer any more questions about protection from everything.

Here are the 4 things you need to know about protection from everything.

1) Progenetius cannot be targeted by spells or abilities. That means if the spell says TARGET creature or permenant it can't choose progenetius. If it never mentions target creature or permenant your golden (re: wrath of god kills him)

2) Progenetius is unblockable. Period.

3) All damage to progenetius is prevented. If you pyroclasm for example, you do not pass go, you do not collect 200 dollars and you do not deal 2 points of damage to progenetius.

4) Progeneius cannot be equipped or enchanted. If you have some way to move an enchantment or equipment to progenetius without targeting him you can but it will fall off as a state based effect. An enchanment would go to the yard and an equipment would just sit there and laugh at you for being an idiot.

Thats it, unless you have a specific question about the way protection from everything interacts in unique situations STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.

For the love of god, someone sticky this, if I see one more question about protection from everything Im going to off myself. Comment on my Mono B rogues and my G/B combo decks please ;D

As long as you control the permanent(s), you choose the order in which the triggered abilities go on the stack.

Edit: So yes, it doesn't only pertain to "comes into play." My magic blog: http://theundergroundsea.blogspot.com/

I'm going to make a few assumptions here. I'm going to assume that "card" means creature with flying.

Raking Canopy is triggered whenever a creature with flying attacks you. The trigger goes on the stack after the anouncement of attackers and will resolve long before combat damage is placed on the stack. My magic blog: http://theundergroundsea.blogspot.com/

I think someone asked this befor but I can't seem to find it. If a creature has shroud can Wrath of god or any other type of card like that destroy the card with shroud?

Shroud only protects a creature from being targeted. Cards such as Wrath of God, Pyroclasm, Diabolic Edict, ect. do not specifically target a creature and thus can effect a creature with shroud. My magic blog: http://theundergroundsea.blogspot.com/

Okay, I have two questions

Does a creature token being destroyed activate Deathgreeter's(Whenever another creature is put into a graveyard from play, you gain 1 life) ability?

If Glaze Fiend and another artifact creature is attacking with sharding sphinx in play, do the thopters made by sharding sphinx come into play in time to power up glaze fiend to deal the extra damage? "If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it"-Volrath

1) Well, not the destroying part, but it does trigger when the token is put into a graveyard.

2) Assuming that Glaze Fiend has more than 0 power(Else it wouldn't deal damage), no. The damage is dealt, and then Sharding Sphinx's trigger goes on the stack. Moo.

ok here is a question for someone. i was told that if you countered one of the elemental incarnations, such as hostility, it wouldnt shuffle back in, however some others say that it still would, anyone have a clear and concise definition? comment on the deck "New Bant" and i will return the favor Iron Chef Mtg Competitor, come stop by the thread and see what is cooking on the site, lots of fun to be had!----------------------------------------------------- The angle of the dangle decreases with the sag of the bag, and increases in proportion to the heat of the meat compared to the mass of the ass and the beauty of the cutie.

Since countering that cycle, (Hostility, Guile, etc.) puts the card into the graveyard, they *are* shuffled into the library instead since the cards read "into a graveyard from anywhere". This includes the stack.

Okay, I have another question

Do creature tokens go into the graveyard to trigger grave pact or deathgreeter, or are they immediately removed from the game? "If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it"-Volrath

Tokens do go to the graveyard and thus trigger things like Grave Pact and Deathgreeter. They then cease to exist as a state-based effect. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

can a creature use it's tap effect after it's declared an attacker but before combat damage is dealt?

Weirdsteve: The elemental incarnation would be shuffled back into the library, since it is being placed into a graveyard. Even though it wasn't in any specific zone when it was put into a graveyard, the ability will still trigger since it doesn't care how the card got there.

Planeswalker: No it cannot, since part of declaring a creature as an attacker is having it become tapped. In effect, creatures have: "T: attack". MTG Lvl 1 Judge and one of your MTGFanatic Moderators! Birds of Paradise Count: 28

ok thnx, and if someoe thoughtseizes me, and I play the card they target, can they target a new card with thoughtseize, or if someone plays shreikmaw and I sacrifice the targeted creature can they pick a new creature with shreikmaw?

The opponent chooses what card to take with Thoughtseize upon its resolution. You can't just play spells during the resolution of another spell. So that situation is just wrong.

In the example with Shriekmaw, the triggered ability from Shriekmaw would just fizzle once its original target disappears. So no, the opponent can not choose a new target. My magic blog: http://theundergroundsea.blogspot.com/

Just to give my OK... the Hostility (or other incarnation being discussed) will be shuffled into the library. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!

Another question

Can a player play an instant like shock from their hand if they are being forced to discard their hand by wit's end? "If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it"-Volrath

They CAN play the Shock while Wit's End is on the stack waiting to resolve, but once they allow Wit's End to start resolving, they won't get another chance to play it until after Wit's End is finished resolving (and Shock is in the graveyard). Correct. They can tap and "float" mana to use at some later point in the phase when they have priority again. This will only cause mana burn if they don't use it by the end of the phase. I killed your cat! (Why?) I felt it would bring closure to our relationship!
