Decks that I post for the articles are budgeted in a very specific way. Of course it isn't the hardest hitting sligh deck ever...but if a new player took this list to his casual table, he'd be raping his opponents six ways from sunday. The whole premise (as you know) is to introduce the functionality of an archetype in a way that doesn't make them dismiss
it due to price.
If you drop the fetchlands, Goblin
Guides, and Grim Lavamancers you can build the deck for around $60. Not too shabby, considering my target audience is newer players.
